Designer Eikou Zhang rethinks type by weaving tradition into every letter. Their latest project, NODOA Typeface, draws from Chinese knotting to create a decorative Latin font. At its heart is the sorrel knot, a core Chinese handcraft, whose flexibility builds an entire alphabet, shown as handcrafted objects and digital type. For Eikou, curiosity about knotting became a bridge between cultures. By reshaping Latin letters through traditional craft, NODOA offers a fresh perspective on heritage.
