happyyy happy october everybody! frugal fall is upon us, but am i up to the challenge? only time will tell in this city of spending... now, without further a-do, it's that time of the week again -- here's everything i spent money on this week.

sept 27

so today was a day of work and chores. first thing I did was spend 2.90 on the subway to work. i tried to hold out on getting food, but it was a weekend shift so i worked an extra hour -- and that extra hour was all it took for me to get hungry enough to buy lunch/dinner. i got some noodles from xian famous foods (which i have to say i did not particularly enjoy) which cost me 13.24. after work, i went to miniso and bought myself some of those tiny razors for shaving your eyebrows cause i had a sudden urge to make my brows thin. this cost me 14.14. then, i spent another 2.90 on the train back to my place, where i grabbed my laundry and went off to go do it at a laundry mat because my washer/dryer was broken (i hate my apartment). i went to do my laundry with @aristotle, who had paid to wash one of my loads when my washing machine first broke, so this round was on me. this came out to 19.80 plus the 2.10 i spent on the subway to get there.

the rumors are true, this was possibly the best day ever! but like all good things in life, it was very expensive. i started off the day paying 30.50 for a roundtrip train ticket an hour upstate.

i went on this journey with @aristotle, and our apple friends subin and leah. the train ride was so lovely and healing <3

when we got to our destination, it was a 40 minute walk to the actual apple orchards. like fools, we decided to brave the walk rather than uber. we walked for maybe 10 minutes on the side of the road before realizing we would probably get hit by a car if we continued like this. so we called an uber to the orchard (and back, later), to which our uber driver confirmed he had driven past us earlier and almost ran one of us over :-D. this came out to 6.20.

once we arrived at the orchard, the fun (and spending) could really begin! we did all kinds of fun activities like day drinking (which came out to 18.40), a hayride (which was 5 dollars), eating pizza (which was 7.50), and sharing a yummy yummy apple cider float (which was 6 dollars).

today i also did not spend any money! and i also still had fun! @aristotle's friend was having a house show, so i swung by to check out the music, which was very lovely and omg people are so talented i can't believe it!

october already, AHHHHH! so so so incredibly exciting! anyway, this october morning was quite chilly on my way to work, and having spent the night at @aristotle's i did not have any coffee to start my day. so i stopped by a cafe to get a warm latte and start my october off right. this came out to 5.25. unfortunately, my subway fares started up again, so i spent 2.90 on the train. i tried to hold out at lunch again at work, but couldn't do it, and ended up spending 5.61 on a chive dumpling and a pork pastry. on the way back from work i stopped in the lower east side to meet up with @networkp. this was another 2.90 on the subway, plus 2.90 to get home from there. i got off a few stops early to stop at trader joe's for milk, more brussel sprouts, and chocolate covered raisin. this cost me 15.09. on my walk back home, i bought 3 cases of blackberries for 5 dollars from a street vendor.

after work today i headed to Black Cat LES to work on an application im in the middle of. i got a "dirty kitty," which is a dirty chai mocha! it was quite yummy, and the cafe is super comfy cozy. i plan on going back soon. this cost me 6.52 plus the 2.90 i spent getting there.

1.00

afterwards, i spent another 2.90 getting home for some meetings i had to attend/host. no time to make dinner, so @aristotle brought me some wah fung no. 1 fast food <3 this would have cost me 6 dollars, but we made a dollar bet on whether or not benicio del toro was in dune, and i won. so this came out to 5 dollars. after my meetings, we headed to the lincoln center to attend what we thought was a q&a with gael garcia bernal for nyff. but aristotle got his dates a little mixed up, and what we ended up seeing was a very bad, spanish desert movie (you can check out my letterboxd @angiengiegie if you want to see my review). lucky for us we got in for free, but the subway fare there and back home was another 2.90 times two.

what a lovely day today was! to start off my spending, @aristotle and i got breakfast at his favorite pancake place, "breakfast by salt". twas a worthy investment for me, and really great pancakes indeed, but it started my spending off with a bang. this cost 2.90 worth of subway fares, plus 20.14 for the actual meal.

1.00

next, we walked the streets of west village and east village until we settled on going to "le phin cafe" to get some work done. i regrettably did not take any pictures of my pandan matcha latte, but rest assured it was quite good. this cost me 7.46. from here, we made our way to the met for their friday date nights. this cost 2.90 in subway fares, plus a dollar to get into the met (ny residence for the winnnn). this was my first time at the met, and i was determined to find my favorite painting once we got there. after searching the halls for a few hours, we finally found it! this painting has a lot of sentimental value to me, so it was very sweet to finally see it in person :)

once met time was over, we stopped at village square pizza for some dinner before parting ways. i was a fool again and did not take a picture, but it was also very good! although i got tricked into paying extra money for hot honey ;-; so this came out to 8.07. finally, i spent another 2.90 to get home.

$236.82

That's an average of $33.83 per day... oh the humanity! if i keep this up i'll be done for. those of you who know me irl, please ridicule me if my average is over 25 dollars a day next week.
