Earlier today I was sitting with Max at Ornithology and we were discussing the importance of having overarching questions that can be used to guide our collective efforts. The thesis being, having a set of significantly interesting questions allows us to stay grounded, both to each other as well as to the questions themselves, confident that work or mental capacity expended is in pursuit of a shared curiosity.
Where to start asking these questions, as in, what story of the vast edifice of life at which to begin, is a large question in it of itself. Personally I wouldn’t begin at the quest of nirvana because it seems too far on one side of the spectrum, but perhaps the only criteria need be, the sufficiency of interest shared by us all.
A couple questions that are inspired by the aforementioned conversation are:
How can you create a social network unconstrained by an ad based revenue model?
Do properties of decentralization allow for the creation of more valuable social experiences?
Are these questions sufficiently interesting, are we equipped to answer them?
